Società Velica Viareggina
Società Velica Viareggina Established in 1951, the Società Velica Viareggina is the oldest sports association in the promotion of the sailing sports in the city. The first Star arrived in Viareggio directly from America, then by various Italian shipyards, finally the shipyard Bergamini in Viareggio began to build them and with the time the fleet rapidly expanded. Today the Società Velica Viareggina has 3 fleets and nearly 30 boats that compete all year 2 times a month.
Club Nautico Versilia
The Club Nautico Versilia was the first nautical structure created in the Viareggio's port and in the course of 50 years, it has been the protagonist and author of many prestigious competitions which have been legendary in the history of sailing. Even today, it is an important center active in the organization of regattas and nautical competitions throughout all the year.

The Coast Guard
present in
Viareggio since
19th century, is
the naval and
maritime
authority in the
area (Lucca and
Pistoia
provinces) since
1908. The
Harbour Master
and Coast Guard
Commanding
Officer is the
responsible
authority in
control of
maritime traffic,
the manoeuvre of
the ships and
the boats. The
Coast Guard
exercises an
effective
control at sea
for the
safeguard of
human life, for
the safety of
navigation and
the security in
ports, and for
coastal defence
and
environmental
protection. The
Coast Guard is
in charge of
Search and
Rescue (S.A.R.)
for 24 hours a
day, although
other
administrative
charges. In case
of emergency at
sea, contact the
Coast Guard on
VHF Channel 16
or call by phone
and mobile at
S.A.R. blue
number 1530 (at
no charge).
Lega Navale Viareggio
Lega Navale Viareggio represents the Italian Naval League Association in the section of the city of Viareggio. The main activities include the promotion and support of the practice of pleasure crafts and other activities about the sea, through training, organization of competitions, promotional and cultural initiatives.
